Walsh University recently issued the following announcement.
The Walsh University Board of Directors has appointed two new board members who begin their three-year terms at the February 12 board meeting. Joining the Board of Directors are Tony Orahoske ’82 and Reverend Scott Kopp.
“We extend our warmest welcome to our new board members, both of whom are alumni and answered the call to leadership through service,” said Walsh University President Tim Collins. “Each member brings with them unique expertise and a shared commitment to our mission that is invaluable.”
Orahoske earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Walsh University and subsequently earned his CPA credentials for the District of Columbia, Ohio, Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia. His career has spanned more than 35 years and covered a wide range of executive coaching/mentoring, operations, risk management and leadership roles. Orahoske has worked for three Fortune 500 companies in the technology, consumer products and manufacturing industries. Orahoske recently retired as a senior partner in KPMG’s Advisory-Risk Consulting practice, where he worked with many premier clients. He has remained active on campus over the years, serving as the Alumni Board President for three years, establishing a Leadership Academy and offering career advice to students. He was recognized by the Alumni Association in 2017 with the Walsh University Distinguished Service Award.
Father Kopp, a native of Dover, Ohio, was ordained by Bishop George V. Murry, S.J. in 2017 after receiving a Master of Divinity at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. He served as parochial vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Canton until his appointment as pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in East Liverpool in 2018. In June of 2021, Father Kopp became pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Vienna, OH. He also serves as Director of Vocations and Seminarians for the Diocese of Youngstown. Father Kopp earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from The University of Akron in 1997 and his Master of Arts in Theology from Walsh University in 2007.
Walsh University is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of alumni, entrepreneurs, educators, business and community leaders, clergy, and members of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, Walsh’s founding order. Members meet three times per year as a full board, with committees meeting more frequently as needed. The Board of Directors, as fiduciaries serving Walsh University, provide professional advice and have oversight responsibilities across the university that include overseeing our mission, our financial integrity, the quality of our educational programming, and our strategic planning.
