Senator Andrew Brenner (R-Delaware) met with U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon as part of her "Returning Education to the States Tour." The meeting, which took place in Columbus, focused on the idea that education policy should be determined at the state and local levels rather than by federal authorities.
"I was honored to have met with Secretary McMahon yesterday to discuss our shared belief that Ohioans know what is best for Ohio's children," said Brenner. "Education decisions should be made here at home—not in Washington—so parents, teachers, and local communities can prepare our students for their best possible future. The Secretary's announcement of $105 million in grants for Ohio charter schools is proof of the value of school choice for Ohio's families."
Secretary McMahon’s tour covers all fifty states and highlights President Trump's objective to shift education authority from the federal government back to state governments. During her visit to Ohio, she toured campuses including Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College, and Columbus Classical Academy. Other officials who participated in meetings with McMahon included Senate President Rob McColley (R-Napoleon), First Lady Fran DeWine, and U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio).
