State Rep. Brian Lorenz | The Ohio House of Representatives
The Ohio House of Representatives has passed House Bill 65, known as the Agriculture Appreciation Act, with unanimous approval. State Representative Brian Lorenz, a Republican from Powell, expressed his satisfaction with the development.
The new legislation will officially recognize several important agriculture-related events in state law. These include FFA Week during the last full week of February, 4-H Week ending on the second Saturday of March, National Farmers Market Week in the first full week of August, Ohio Soil Health Week in the second full week of November, Stormwater Awareness Week in the first full week of October, along with Agriculture Day on March 21st, and Farmer’s Day on October 12th.
Agriculture holds a significant place in Ohio's economy, serving as the leading industry with an economic impact exceeding $100 billion. This sector provides employment for one in every seven Ohio residents. Additionally, Ohio hosts over 75,000 farms, with 90% of these being family-owned operations.
