State Representative Beth Lear (R-Galena) announced that Ohio’s fall hunting season will officially begin in September. The opening dates for the 2025 hunting season include squirrel, dove, rail, snipe, and gallinule on Monday, September 1. Early Canada goose and early teal seasons start Saturday, September 6 and run through Sunday, September 14. Deer archery season begins Saturday, September 27.

Lear commented on the role of hunters in wildlife management. “Ohio’s hunters play an important role in conservation, keeping our herds and flocks at healthy numbers to avoid disease and overpopulation,” said Rep. Lear. “I wish all of you happy and safe hunting!”

House Bill 64, supported by members of the Ohio House Majority Caucus, will lower the age requirement for senior discounts on hunting, fishing, and other sportsmen licenses from 66 to 65 years old. This change will take effect on September 30, ahead of deer hunting season.

Hunting licenses can be obtained online along with a full schedule of Ohio’s hunting seasons.
