State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) has announced that Ohio's fall hunting season will officially begin in September.
“Hunting season isn’t just about tradition; it’s about family, stewardship, and the freedom to enjoy the great outdoors that make Ohio so special,” said Rep. Lorenz. “Good luck to everyone heading into the woods this year. Stay safe and bring home some stories worth sharing.”
The 2025 hunting season in Ohio opens on Monday, September 1, for several species including squirrel (fox, red, and gray), dove, rail (Virginia and sora), snipe, and gallinule. Early Canada goose and early teal seasons will start on Saturday, September 6, running through Sunday, September 14. Deer archery season is set to begin on Saturday, September 27.
In addition to announcing the hunting schedule, Rep. Lorenz highlighted House Bill 64. This legislation reduces the age requirement from 66 to 65 for Ohio residents seeking senior discounts on hunting, fishing, and other sportsmen licenses. The law takes effect on September 30.
Those interested in obtaining a hunting license or viewing the full schedule can do so online.
