State Rep. Brian Lorenz | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Brian Lorenz of Powell cast his vote in favor of House Bill 54, the State Transportation Budget, which passed unanimously on Wednesday. The bill is designed to allocate funds for Ohio's transportation infrastructure, with a focus on ensuring progress and safety across the state.
Lorenz has been an advocate for restricting the transport of hazardous materials along State Route 315. Currently, semitrucks are permitted to carry such materials south of I-270. However, with the new amendment included in the budget, this will change. "I am proud to announce that my office has managed to add an amendment to the transportation budget that would restrict the transportation of hazardous material on all of State Route 315," Lorenz stated. He emphasized that this move addresses concerns raised by local officials and residents and credited cooperation from various local entities including the City of Powell, Liberty Township, and Olentangy Local Schools for enhancing community safety.
House Bill 54 serves as a crucial tool for funding transportation infrastructure development and maintenance for fiscal years 2026-2027. It contains measures aimed at preserving Ohio’s infrastructure integrity while fostering economic growth and improving public safety.
The bill will now proceed to the Ohio Senate for further deliberation.
