House Energy Action Team Chairman Troy Balderson and Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger have introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives to recognize American natural gas as an affordable and "green" energy source. The resolution emphasizes the role of natural gas in lowering emissions and maintaining its importance in the United States' energy mix. According to the Energy Information Administration, natural gas accounts for over 60 percent of the power sector's emissions reductions since 2005.
Chairman Balderson stated, "With American energy demand surging, we cannot afford to ignore the power and abundance of American natural gas." He highlighted the impact of the shale revolution on communities across Ohio by providing jobs and reducing energy costs. He also praised former President Trump's support for American energy expansion.
Chairman Pfluger remarked, "American natural gas stands as an unrivaled engine of economic growth and national security," stressing its role in reducing emissions, lowering household energy costs, and enhancing energy security. He emphasized America's position as a leading producer of natural gas and its influence on global energy markets.
The resolution supports efforts to expand American natural gas infrastructure, remove barriers for producers, and expedite approval for new liquified natural gas (LNG) export facilities. These facilities are seen as crucial for delivering reliable energy to allies overseas and reducing reliance on Chinese and Russian energy.
Anne Bradbury, President & CEO of the American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC), commented on America's leadership in both natural gas production and emissions reductions. Rob Brundrett, President of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, expressed gratitude for Congressman Balderson's support of Ohio's natural gas industry. Chris Ventura from Consumer Energy Alliance applauded Balderson's leadership in promoting affordable domestic energy.
