COLUMBUS—State Senator Andrew Brenner has expressed his support for Attorney General Dave Yost's Cease and Desist order directed at Columbus City Schools concerning the district's failure to provide transportation to charter and private school students.

"State law is clear. School districts must provide transportation to charter and private school students. Columbus City Schools for far too long has chosen to not only ignore the law, but also ignore these families," said Brenner. "Columbus City Schools carried over $244 million in cash in 2023. The state invested an additional $1 billion into K-12 public schools in the current operating budget, so there is simply no excuse for not following the law. As chairman of the Senate's Education Committee, I strongly support Attorney General Yost's directive to Columbus City Schools."
