BYESVILLE, Ohio – Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) held an energy roundtable Friday at the Guernsey Power Station, a state-of-the-art natural gas power plant that began operation in 2023. In attendance were over two dozen representatives from Ohio’s energy sector, including electric co-ops, utilities, natural gas producers, business groups, and power generators.
The discussion focused on Ohio’s role in improving American energy security and took place shortly after Balderson led his House colleagues in an effort to block President Biden’s plan to shutter U.S. power plants. Balderson's legislation now has 143 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives.
“Ohio is in the middle of an energy renaissance, fueled by booming natural gas production and unprecedented private sector investment,” said Balderson. “This roundtable gathered experts from across the energy industry to discuss the future of American energy and how Ohio will be a critical piece of the nation’s power mix for decades to come.”
Balderson held his first energy roundtable last August in Cambridge, Ohio, where he led a discussion on permitting reform and his efforts in Washington to enact meaningful changes to address bureaucratic backlogs.
