Congressmen Troy Balderson (OH-12) and Tim Walberg (MI-5) have introduced a resolution to recognize May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. The initiative comes from Balderson, an enthusiastic motorcyclist and co-chair of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, who has been a longstanding advocate for enhancing safety measures for motorcycle riders.
Balderson expressed his passion for motorcycling, stating, “Like hundreds of thousands of Ohioans, I love taking to the road on two wheels and experiencing the freedom that motorcycles provide.” He emphasized the importance of this resolution in promoting cautious riding, usage of appropriate safety gear, and fostering mutual respect among all road users. He further stated that "Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month encourages everyone to ride with caution, wear proper safety equipment, and embrace a culture of respect between all road users. By sharing the road, everyone can make it to their destination safely.”
The resolution not only designates May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month but also acknowledges the significant role motorcycles play in transportation. It urges all road users to be aware of motorcycles and affirms that motorcyclists have equal rights on the roads. Furthermore, it promotes rider safety education, training, and encourages wearing proper gear for safe motorcycle operation.
