WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) welcomed the announcement of $8.5 billion in funding from the CHIPS and Science Act for the development of semiconductor projects across the United States, including Intel’s construction of two chip manufacturing plants in Licking County, Ohio.

"Two years ago, Intel unveiled their vision to make Ohio home to two of their brand-new, leading-edge chip factories," emphasized Balderson, highlighting the significant $20 billion commitment from Intel, which stands as the largest capital investment in Ohio’s history. This substantial investment has paved the way for the creation of numerous construction and manufacturing jobs within Licking County.

Balderson acknowledged the pivotal role played by the State of Ohio in making this project a reality, stating, "This could not have happened without the State of Ohio’s commitment to the project." The congressman emphasized that the CHIPS and Science Act funding announcement marks a crucial step towards bolstering U.S. manufacturing leadership, enhancing national security, and fostering economic growth in Ohio.

"The future is brighter for kids in Ohio today because of this investment," Balderson affirmed, underscoring the positive impact that such initiatives will have on the state's workforce and economic landscape.

Intel is also investing in educational programs in Ohio, particularly focusing on K-12 students. These programs aim to support future workforce demands by promoting youth engagement and education in vital fields such as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
