To help ease the burden on the City’s drop-off composting carts, Westerville Public Service is providing large receptacles for pumpkin disposal beginning Nov. 1. Dumpsters will be placed at 350 Park Meadow Rd. and 469 Westdale Ave. Pumpkins collected will be composted.
Remember that pumpkins should be composted or placed in refuse, not yard waste. Yard waste collected by the Public Service Department is transported to a third-party for mulching.
Items like squash and other fruit can disrupt the order of things within the mulch. As many green thumbs will know, the mulching process requires a correct balance of temperature and moisture (among other factors).
Please contact the Public Service Department at (614) 901-6740 or by email at publicservice@westerville.org with any questions.
The dumpsters on Park Meadow Road and Westdale Avenue will be in place through the month of November. Learn how you can Save More Than Food with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO).
