City of Dublin recently issued the following announcement.
For the second year, the Dublin Police Department is collecting new and recycled bicycles to connect local children with a free, safe bike to ride.
Dublin Police, in partnership with the Starfish Assignment, will host a Bikes & Badges donation drive Saturday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dublin Justice Center, 6565 Commerce Pkwy. Anyone can contribute new or gently used bikes, which Starfish Assignment will distribute later this spring.
Bikes of all sizes and in good condition, including tricycles and balance bikes, will be accepted. At this time, there is a particular need for kids under the age of 12.
“After such an overwhelming success last year, our officers are thankful to continue our community partnership with the Starfish Assignment for Bikes & Badges,” Dublin Police Chief Justin Páez says. “Events like these showcase the generosity of Dublin residents and bring something as useful and memorable as a bike to kids around the area.”
During the 2021 drive, the Dublin community helped donate more than 200 bicycles, which Starfish Assignment and the Columbus Division of Police distributed at multiple Columbus Recreation and Parks centers in Linden, the Hilltop and East Columbus. Dublin Police officers supported these giveaway events and will continue to do so this year.
Starfish Assignment
The Starfish Assignment’s primary purpose is to help people by partnering with law enforcement officers to identify needs in local communities. This is the organization’s third annual Bikes & Badges event.
