An Oak tree in Thaddeus Kosciuszko Park near the south section of the walking path has been declining in health for the past several years. The tree has several large limbs that are dead and decaying, which presents a potential hazard. The City of Dublin’s Horticulture staff is working with a certified arborist to remove the tree’s top crown beginning on Feb. 1. The city will keep the trunk and lower limbs for wildlife to habit.
Park visitors can admire what remains of this aged tree. We will continue to monitor the tree after the work is complete and will take additional steps to mitigate hazards as necessary. The City of Dublin wishes to preserve as much of the tree as possible, so residents and visitors may still appreciate it for its significance to Kosciuszko Park.
