State Representative Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) has introduced a bill to the House State and Local Government Committee, proposing the establishment of a 9/11 Remembrance Day in Ohio. This day would be dedicated to mourning and honoring those who lost their lives during the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The proposed legislation seeks to remember the victims of the attacks on New York City's Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93. Additionally, it aims to honor first responders, National Guard members, and other individuals who demonstrated heroism during that time.
"The tragedy that struck that day is the worst our Nation has ever experienced and touched the lives of all Ohioans," said Lorenz. "This legislation will establish a day in Ohio for us all to take a moment to remember those that lost their lives and the brave men and women that responded to help those in need."
If passed, 9/11 Remembrance Day would be observed annually on September 11, alongside Patriot Day, which was federally established on September 11, 2002, for similar purposes. The bill currently awaits further hearings within the committee.
