WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Balderson from Ohio's 12th District has vowed to spearhead the campaign aimed at overturning the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Power Plan 2.0. The Congressman expressed deep concern over the EPA's decision to shut down reliable power plants, which he believes will have severe repercussions on the nation's energy security and grid stability.
In a statement, Congressman Balderson criticized the EPA's latest rule, describing it as "catastrophic for our electric grid and disastrous for our energy security." He highlighted the exorbitant costs associated with compliance and the untested nature of the required technology.
Furthermore, Balderson accused the EPA of using the rules not to address emissions but to force fossil fuel power plants into premature retirement and obstruct the construction of new facilities. He emphasized that this move would diminish baseload energy and create unprecedented grid reliability issues, noting that the final rule was even more stringent than initially proposed.
The Congressman condemned the EPA's decision as politically motivated and disconnected from reality. He pointed out the conflicting policies of the Biden Administration, which simultaneously pushes for increased use of electricity through electric vehicle mandates while shutting down essential power plants.
Determined to take action, Congressman Balderson declared, "I am committed to working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to immediately take action, and will be introducing a CRA resolution to overturn the Biden Administration’s Clean Power Plan 2.0."
