WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) has reintroduced a resolution in the House of Representatives to recognize American natural gas as an affordable and "green" energy source. Balderson highlighted the importance of natural gas in reducing carbon emissions, stating, "Ohio is home to a remarkable supply of natural gas that lies just below our feet."
The resolution also emphasizes the significance of natural gas in Ohio, where it has already reduced carbon emissions from power generation by 38 percent. Rob Brundrett, president of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, commended Balderson's efforts, stating, "It is a testament to those Ohioans who get up and go to work every day to provide the clean, abundant and affordable energy we use to power our lives."
In addition to recognizing the environmental benefits of natural gas, the resolution calls on the Biden Administration to support natural gas infrastructure and remove barriers for producers. One specific barrier highlighted is the administration's liquified natural gas (LNG) export ban, which inhibits the approval of crucial infrastructure needed to export natural gas overseas.
Chris Ventura, executive director at the Consumer Energy Alliance, stressed the importance of lowering energy costs for working families, stating, "With inflation continuing to burden working families, it is important that the Biden Administration do everything possible to help lower the cost of energy, not make it more expensive while jeopardizing American jobs."
The resolution introduced by Congressman Balderson aims to promote bipartisan support for leveraging America's abundant natural gas resources to ensure affordable and reliable energy for all.
