U.S. Representative Troy Balderson joined Sheriff Randy Thorp and Clerk of Courts Olivia Parkinson on Thursday for a surprise visit to celebrate Mark Weiner's 30 years of service as the Licking County Victim Advocate. Congressman Balderson expressed his admiration for Weiner by stating, "When tragedy strikes, the people of Licking County are blessed to have a champion like Mark Weiner in their corner. For three decades now, Mark has been a steady and compassionate advocate for individuals in times of crisis."

Mark Weiner has been providing services for victims and witnesses of violent crimes, fatal crashes, and other tragedies as the Licking County Victim Advocate. His journey began in 1990 when he started as a victim service volunteer while in college, eventually leading to a full-time position with Licking County after graduation.

During the surprise visit, Congressman Balderson honored Weiner's dedication by presenting him with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in recognition of his 30 years of service. Weiner, a lifelong Johnstown-area resident, resides with his wife, Christie, and daughter, Faith.

Weiner's commitment to supporting and advocating for those in crisis has left a lasting impact on the community, making him a respected figure in Licking County.
