Sophomore guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored 8 straight points to finish off a 13-4 run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay in a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Denison on Wednesday in Granville.

Sophomore wing David Rice (Brook Park/Parma Padua Franciscan) knocked down a 3-pointer to break a 36-36 tie and put the Bishops ahead for good, and senior post Grant Spicer (Cincinnati/Lakota East) followed with a lay-in before Hinkle buried a 3-pointer, converted a traditional 3-point play, and wrapped up the run with a lay-in to give Ohio Wesleyan a 49-40 lead with 11:04 left in regulation time.

Darren Rubin rallied the Big Red with a pair of free throws and a lay-in to make it 49-44, but senior wing Jack Clement (Bellefontaine) answered with a 3-pointer and a lay-in to stretch the margin to 54-44 midway through the period, and the lead would remain in double digits throughout the remainder of the contest.

Denison raced to a 6-0 lead with the help of a Rubin 3-pointer, and the Big Red would lead by as many as 9, that coming on a 3-pointer from Chase Ouellette that made it 14-5 at the 13:57 mark of the first half.

Ohio Wesleyan reeled off the next 11 points, pulling even at 14 on a Clement 3-pointer before Spicer closed out the run with a lay-in.

The Bishops were up, 31-24, after a Hinkle jumper early in the second half before Denison took the lead with a 10-2 run that included 7 points by Will Hunter.  Clement ended that Big Red run with a 3-pointer before a Ricky Radtke lay-in tied the game at 36 with 15:02 left in regulation time.

Hinkle led the Bishops with 25 points.  Clement added 20 points, Rice finished with 11 points, and Spicer had 10 points and recorded team highs of 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
