Drainage Improvement Project Making Progress

Progress

City of Delaware recently issued the following announcement.

A storm water pipe replacement project continues toward completion on the City’s near south side. The work is taking place between Sandusky Street and Liberty Street, just north

of Bernard Avenue. Crews are burying new corrugated plastic pipe, some sections as large as 4-feet in diameter, about 6 to 10 feet underground depending on the terrain. Work as

progressed to near Bernard Ave., and all the new drainage pipe and catch basins should be in the ground by the end of January, weather permitting. Once the new pipe is installed,

crews will begin pavement restoration where the new pipe crossed under streets and roadways. This $700,000 project is being funded with storm water utility fees and will continue

through March 2022.
