Delaware County, OHIO, Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Sept. 19.
In Delaware County, there have been 5 homicides since 2016. All 5 cases were solved, and convictions were made in all where possible (one incident was a murder-suicide). In addition to homicides, we investigate all forms of death, including: natural, suicides, and drug overdoses. This totals roughly 100 investigations annually.
At a recent Citizens Sheriff Academy class, a 30-year crime scene expert and a 20-year veteran detective shared about all the facts and evidence that must be collected when investigating and prosecuting a homicide case. It takes multiple agencies working in partnership to solve a case, and collectively bring justice to a victim’s family and loved ones.
Delaware County remains a safe place to work, live, and raise a family. But on the very rare occasions when the most heinous of crimes occur, there are dozens of committed professionals who will work tirelessly to solve the case and see that justice is served.
