State Rep. Beth Lear | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representatives Beth Lear and Brian Lorenz have introduced House Bill 294, a piece of legislation that aims to honor veterans by designating a specific stretch of Interstate Route 71 as the "Delaware County Veterans Memorial Highway." The designated area will cover the north and southbound lanes of the highway between State Route 36 and the border of Delaware and Morrow counties.
Representative Lear, who is also a veteran, expressed her pride in being able to recognize the service of fellow veterans in her home county. She stated, "As a veteran myself, it is a great honor to be able to recognize the service of other veterans throughout my home county." Lear also mentioned the support they have received from local veterans' groups, such as the Sunbury American Legion Post 457 and the Delaware County Veterans Association.
Representative Lorenz echoed Lear's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of showing gratitude to veterans for their sacrifices. He stated, "This designation is one small way we can say 'thank you' to generations of veterans for the sacrifices they made in service to our nation. We owe our military members a debt that can never be repaid."
House Bill 294 is set to have its first hearing in the House Transportation Committee on Tuesday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m. This bill represents a meaningful step towards honoring veterans and recognizing their contributions to our nation's security and freedom.
