U.S. Representative Troy Balderson (OH-12) has shown his support for Israel by voting in favor of a $14.3 billion emergency supplemental appropriations package. The package aims to provide Israel with the necessary resources to defend itself against Hamas, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization based in the Gaza Strip.

Balderson emphasized the importance of this package, stating, "For nearly a month, Israel has fended off heinous attacks from terrorists who are intent on wiping them off the map." He further added, "This package provides our great ally Israel the equipment needed for their continued defense and says loud and clear that the United States will always stand with Israel and its people."

The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act not only supports Israel but also ensures the readiness of the American military. It allocates $4.4 billion to replenish domestic defense stockpiles, reinforcing the nation's defense capabilities.

Specifically, the act provides $4 billion to replenish Israel's Iron Dome and David's Sling missile defense systems. Additionally, $3.5 billion is allocated for Foreign Military Financing, enabling Israel to procure advanced weapons systems and defense articles and services. The act also includes $1.2 billion for the continued development of the Iron Beam system to counter short-range threats, as well as $1 billion to support artillery and munitions production.

Furthermore, the package addresses the safety of U.S. personnel and citizens. It includes $150 million for an enhanced security presence at the U.S. Embassy and $50 million for the evacuation of U.S. citizens if necessary.

To ensure accountability, the act requires that the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State provide written reports to Congress detailing the security assistance provided to Israel.

It is worth noting that the cost of this emergency supplemental appropriations package is fully offset by recisions from President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act. Specifically, the enhanced funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is being reallocated to support the security assistance for Israel.

The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the United States to stand with Israel and provide the necessary resources for its defense. This bipartisan effort highlights the significance of the U.S.-Israel alliance and the shared values of both nations.
